THE TALL SHIP RACES STAVANGER

STAVANGER, AGAIN HOSTING THE TALL SHIPS RACES 28-31 JULY 2011.

For the third time, Stavanger had the honour of being official host port for The Tall Ships Races. We took this as a sign that the ships and crews enjoy our city, and we were very grateful to host them once again.

This became a fantastic celebration for the entire region, and the thousands of sailors and visitors experienced the city and the region at its very best.

The purpose of The Tall Ships Races is to give youngsters from 15-25 years an oppurtunity to muster on board sailing ships, participate in friendly racing, learn basic seamanship and, perhaps most importantly, to develope long lasting friendships across nationalities, religions and backgrounds.

Based on tradition and history of the sailing ships, we did our utmost to give crew and visitors a great time in Stavanger.

Appr. 450.000 visitors were present during the event, and it became a big success!
